Ursa Met the Animal Friend
The animal friend sat on a sofa. Wild animals, the kinds with sharp claws, ran circles around the sofa. The animals stopped. They stood in a line facing the door, with the animal friend at the end. Ursa had to pass in front of each animal, for judging. Ursa passed. While Ursa talked with the animal friend, people came in. Too many people. Bad people. Some of them teased the animals, tricked them, shut them in a room, and locked the door. When the animal friend saw what happened, she began to cry. Now the bad people had nothing to do. They paced the floor. They climbed the sofa. They growled and roared and attacked each other, clawing through cloth and skin. They snarled and hissed. They bit through each other’s bones. The sofa was a mess. The animal friend laughed. Ursa Met the Animal Friend
